Cutting System
The Mastodon cutting system uses feed-control carbide teeth. Each tooth helps control how material enters the rotor, reducing the amount of material being fed into the drum at once.
The teeth are designed to combine the cutting performance of sharp steel with the durability of carbide, while eliminating the need for routine sharpening.

Direct Drivetrain
The M60-S uses a direct-drive drivetrain that sends hydraulic power directly to the rotor. There are no belts or pulleys between the hydraulic motor and rotor.
Fewer moving components means fewer components to maintain, while direct drive provides immediate torque for demanding mulching applications.
Bearings
Two 150 mm rotor bearings support the M60-S rotor and help handle the lateral and radial shock loads associated with forestry mulching.
The bearing housings are machined from billet and provide increased grease capacity for longer service intervals and less maintenance.
