M60-S Overview
Mastodon heads are set up with a 2-step bluetooth app that requires no tools or training to tune to any skid steer.
The M60-S utilizes E-tech power management and feed control carbide to make rotor stalling a thing of the past, decreasing operator fatigue and reducing heat to the skid steer.
Mastodon heads are made for extended duty cycles with no maintenance, allowing operators to end their work day clean, refreshed, and ready to start again.

Anti-Stall Rotor
E-TECH Smart-Drive actively adjusts for maximum performance so the operator can enjoy mulching in the way forestry mowing was meant to be. The operator does NOT have to monitor drum RPMs or skid loader pressure. The E-TECH hydraulic motor is infinitely variable so the perfect torque is always available for the material that is being processed.

E-TECH allows the mulcher to be tuned to any machine with two simple steps, using Bluetooth and an app on your smartphone.
Step 1: Test the skid steers GPM with the build-in flow tuner.
Step 2: Select that flow on the app
The tune is now complete. After setup, the mulcher will optimize torque from max displacement to max RPMs. When the mulcher is switched to a different skid steer, tuning can be redone in under 30 seconds.
Cutting System
Mastodon Mulchers come equipped with a patented feed control cutting technology. Each tool acts as an independent feed control system that controls the feed rate and greatly reduces stalling the rotor. Allowing a Mastodon head to achieve sharp steel performance with the strength and longevity of carbide.
The Mastodon cutting system features feed control carbide allowing high speed mulching without the need to sharpen.

Each Mastodon cutting tooth has a feed control feature,
a deep gullet feature for maximum chip storage
and an engineered carbide cutting feature.
This provides ultra-fast mulching speeds while consistently producing high quality finish material.
The patented bite limiting tooth used in the mastodon system keeps the rotor weight to a minimum, allowing for the fastest recovery times in the industry.

Drivetrain
The Mastodon M60-S features an exclusive direct drive train that puts all available power to the rotor, providing instant torque and delivering superior performance. By usiung a direct drive train, the M60-S eliminates all the wear on moving parts associated with belt drive systems, ensuring lasting reliability in applications where high stress and extended work cycles are common.

Two 150mm bearings support the rotor protecting the entire drive system from lateral and radial shock loads associated with forestry mulching.
Bearings
Rotor bearings are responsible for absorbing shock loads and keeping the rotor running smooth and vibration-free. The larger the bearing, the more force it can take. That’s why mastodon heads use 150mm rotor bearing which are the largest used on any skid steer head.
Mastodon bearing housings are made of machined billet and feature 50% more grease capacity than other heads, providing maximum uptime with less maintenance.
